Time is all about experience and we love to make kids play with clocks to make them understand how the hands are moving all around a dial. We believe that fun individual and collective practice facilitates learning to tell the time. You will find below all the information needed to make all kids learn how to tell the time in no time!
Information about the content:
The Big teaching clock (ref. C) represents the main support for the teacher and is a representation of a watch dial with hands that can be positioned as wished.
The clock is conceived to be visible by the students during the time lesson and can be hung on a wall or a black board.
The Small Clocks (ref. E) represent watch dials and have to be handed out to all students. They allow them to play with the hands and to get an interactive lesson with the teacher.
The blue minutes (Flik) and red hour (Flak) hands cutouts (ref. D.1 & D.2) should be instered in the middle of the Big teaching clock (ref. C)
The red hour and blue minute cutouts should be placed all around the dial of the Big Teaching Clock (ref. D.4 & D.5). The cutouts should be inserted in the dedicated red and blue emply holes around the dial.
The yellow Activity cutouts (ref. D.3) represent 9 activities kids are familiar with. They are meant for the teacher and should be placed on the Big clock according to their related time of the day/night.
The Flik Flak concept
Flik and Flak are siblings. Tall brother Flik acts as the minute hand and his little sister Flak acts as the hour hand.
Flik is the blue and white big brother. He indicates the minutes and with his long legs, he moves faster than his little sister. He takes one minute to move from one index to the next. His blue hair and outfit match the minute numbers written all around the dial. What he indicates is therefore easy to spot. He’s extremely well qualified for the job. And not just because he’s Swiss. He loves sport and is cool with taking a strategic step forward every 60 seconds.
Flak is the red little sister and indicates the hours. Ladies first! What she indicates must be read before anything else. She moves forward slowly to point to each of the color-coded hour numbers. Her red hair and dress match the colour of the hour numbers of the dial. It takes her 12 hours to return to her starting point. She tries to be patient and waits for her brother to take 60 steps before she leaps ahead, even though she’s often tempted to flip around on her skateboard to fill the time.
The Flik Flak clocks show the 12 hour numbers and the 60 minute numbers as well. Each minute is indicated by a dot and the main minute numbers are clearly written down.
The clocks have clearly readable dials with color codes. The colour of the minute hand (Flak, in blue) matches the colour of the minute numbers. The colour of the hour hand (Flik, in red) matches the colour of the hour numbers.
